- Cashew Cream Cheesecake
Would you like to make this Christmas really special, different and healthy? How about some new wonderful ideas for your Christmas table that not only looks and tastes good, but is very nutritious and healthy. Okay, I’ve decided to do a Raw Food Workshop – just for Christmas. The format for the day will be, light, simple and appetising.
Christmas is very complex, very corrupt in many ways. The traditional food is so heavy and so unhealthy. We have become set in our ways, and pulled towards heavy, lifeless, empty calories, which give nothing back and cause enormous stress in our digestive systems long after the big weekend or event has passed.
How would you like to feel fantastic after eating Christmas Lunch? How would you like to have enough energy to enjoy your time with family and friends, and not have that feeling of ‘Oh God, I wish I didn’t eat that much!’? It’s possible you could be enjoying a very different style of food and really enjoy it. It’s possible that this Christmas you could actually look your best, feel fantastic and not put on weight!

Gluten Free Alternatives to bread!
Well they said it wouldn’t happen, but it has! Waffle bread is on a come back.. People everywhere are asking for decent ‘waffle bread’ recipes… I’m really excited about this, because I have some! Yep, I’ve got a few crackers that can be whipped up in no time, provided you have some basic ingredients available. For starters, some cooked brown or white rice, so gluten free Self Raising flour or plain flour, some herbs and spices, some chopped vegetables, or grated vegetables. Seasoning like herbal salts, curry powder, Cayenne pepper, chia seeds, sesame seeds and ground almond. Oh the list goes on, however at the end of the day the best combination is the simplest one. Less is more!
Waffle bread is so simple, and so practical to include in your weekly menu. I wrote ‘What A Lot Of Waffle’ because I wanted to find a home for a compilation of Gluten free waffle bread recipes that I had collected. I told myself that I would have the book together in no time, but it took longer than I expected. Life gets in the way sometimes. Hey the book is available now, and what a wonderful gift it would make for someone for Christmas or any time for that matter. Read the rest of this entry

EAT, PLAY, WIN, oh Please!
Okay, so I purchased a box of cereal during the week as an experiment. Not just any box of cereal, no no… I purchased NUTRI-GRAIN. I did this because it was 1) on special and 2) I wanted to study the marketing words, and really scrutinize this cereal and tell the TRUTH about it…These cereals that you buy from the supermarket are mostly in carboard boxes, and designed to hang around for 1/2 a year. So there is something inside of them that preserves them otherwise the contents would be green and stinking to high heaven. So what is the deal with ‘IRON MAN’ food, and how sneaky can you get? I’m going in…… Read the rest of this entry

high fibre foods
There’s no other way to ask that! Quite frankly, if you don’t poo, eliminate, ‘shit’, you are pretty much unwell. It occured to me when I went to the toilet today, and I did a decent poo, that this was a relief, a wonderful anatomical bodily function that if I couldn’t do, would mean serious repercussions. I got up from the throne and looked back down at what I just let go, and was content and satisfied that I was in pretty good shape. The colour of my waste was light brown, it came out easy, I didn’t strain, and there wasn’t any mucus around it. Oh and while we are on the subject of ‘poo’, I didn’t just go once, this was the second time in a few hours. I’m not trying to be a smarty pants here, I just think this is so important and often a subject that is taboo for some folk. We have to talk about these things. At Sunshine Ridge Retreat, we talk about poo all the time. It’s a life or death sort of subject, so get used to it.
If you are eating a high fibre diet, drinking lots of water and moving your body with the right amount of exercise, you should be eliminating at least 3 times a day. Read the rest of this entry

Dr. Bircher Benner, a leading Swiss nutritionist was the first to develop the recipe for Muesli and this was based on raw oats, fresh fruit, nuts and milk. An old time nerve tonic was based on raw oats, and Dr. Benner designed the recipe to restore the health of elderly patients in the best way possible – with good nutrition and a pleasant mountain air environment. Most modern day Muesli imitations are very acid forming due to poor combinations of refined and heat affected mixed grains, also these granola cereals that claim to have heaps of goodness in them, are just a con, due to the extra fat and sugar added to the grains. I have already given you a wonderful Muesli recipe in a previous post, the purpose of this post is to inspire you to use Oats more in your every day diet. Read the rest of this entry

Before I get onto these amazing seeds (which is what this blog is about), I’d like to first talk about plastics, because plastics are the biggest culprit of all containing a lot of hidden estrogens. And unfortunately plastic is everywhere and we use so much of it everyday. It may surprise you that all plastic contains estrogens. And the more flexible the plastic the more estrogen it contains.
The best advice I can give you is to store your food in glass containers, use a glass drinking bottle, and never ever heat your food in a plastic container. The humble flexible plastic bag contains a lot of estrogens, so be careful about storing nuts and seeds in plastic bags. And if you think the estrogens cannot get into your food or liquid, think again because they can. Read the rest of this entry

Sweet Potato, has to be one of those delicious vegetables, and when you bake it, sprinkle with some herbal salt, you have a delight for the taste buds. To make this salad, you need to pre-bake thinly sliced sweet potato, grease up a baking pan and place the sliced sweet potato well spread out on the pan, drizzle with olive oil and bake in a moderate oven for around 25 minutes.
1 sweet potato, peeled and sliced finely

Saturday Salad
Outside where trees sway in the wind, cute little wren birds flutter about and butterflys float past, all is well and the troubles of the world seem far, far away. Turn on the TV and it is completely the opposite. So I’m ‘outside today’. Outside in the garden, in nature, is the best place to be, especially when the sun is shining. I have said it before that garden therapy is the best therapy you can experience. Wayne Dyer says, ‘the wilderness is therapy’, so find your wilderness. Read the rest of this entry
