Hope Beyond Hormones

Hope Beyond Hormones  whatis-a-hormone                                                                            October 2016.

We are literally drowning in a rising tide of oestrogen excess.  The widespread use of agricultural pesticides and herbicides, of hormone-enhanced poultry, beef, pork and seafood, and the relentless accumulation of non-biodegradable synthetic oestrogens from HRT and the pill, have contaminated our worlds water supplies.  No wonder we see fish, belly up at the end of some of beaches!  They are the by-product of pollution.

The corporate driven dissemination of oestrogen excess has caused increasing infertility, created developmental malformations and promoted unprecedented hormone-related growth disorders.

Perhaps you are wondering, is there any good news here, is there any chance that we can turn this around, and bring a sense of calm and joy back to our hormonal health?  I am here to say we can, this is not a doom and gloom article, instead one of positive solutions and hope.  However, I need to bring your attention to a few things first. The Power Of Pecan Nuts!

When was the last time you enjoyed delicious and scrumptious ‘Pecan Nuts?’

Here are some facts on why they should be on your menu:

The Power Of Pecan!

  • Pecan nuts are rich source of energy, carry 690 calories/100 g and contain health benefiting nutrients, minerals, antioxidants and vitamins that are essential for wellness.
  • The nuts are rich in monounsaturated fatty acids like oleic acid and an excellent source of phenolic antioxidants. Regular addition of pecan nuts in the diet helps to decrease total as well as LDL or “bad cholesterol” and increases HDL or “good cholesterol” levels in the blood. Research studies suggest that the Mediterranean diet, which is rich in dietary-fiber, mono-unsaturated fatty acids, and antioxidants would help to prevent coronary artery disease and strokes by favoring healthy blood lipid profile.
  • Pecan nuts are rich source of many phyto-chemical substances that may contribute to their overall antioxidant activity, including polyphenolic antioxidant ellagic acid, vitamin E, beta-carotene, lutein and zea-xanthin. Research studies have been suggestive of that these compounds help the body remove toxic oxygen-free radicals and thus, protect the body from diseases, cancers, as well as infections.
  • Anti-proliferative properties of ellagic acid is because of its ability to inhibit DNA binding of certain carcinogens such as nitrosamines and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, thus, offering protection to human body from cancers.
  • Pecans are an excellent source of vitamin-E, especially rich in gamma-tocopherol; They provide about 25 g per 100 g. Vitamin E is a powerful lipid soluble antioxidant, required for maintaining the integrity of cell membrane of mucus membranes and skin by protecting it from harmful oxygen-free radicals.  Not enough people are talking about Vitamin E these days, and certainly not from the nut source!
  • The nuts are very rich sources of several important B-complex groups of vitamins such as riboflavin, niacin, thiamin, pantothenic acid, vitamin B-6, and folates. Together, these vitamins work as co-factors for the enzyme metabolism inside the human body.  What this means for you is the Pecan nut is an ideal ‘nerve tonic type food’.  By adding more of these nuts to your daily menu, you are sure to have a healthier mind and body!
  • The nuts are also very rich sources of minerals like manganese, potassium, calcium, iron, magnesium, zinc, and selenium.

So there you have it, just add a hand full of pecan nuts to your daily menu to keep you topped up with sufficient levels of minerals, vitamins, and protein and keep you sharp in the brain!

Check out where the next Raw Food Workshop will take place:  www.anneclark.com.au    – For RECIPES etc.,.  Annie’s Pecan Cacao Pie…

What you will need:     1 cup pecan nut pieces….     1/2 cup raw cacao powder ….    1/2 cup softened or melted coconut oil ….  1/2 cup maple syrup or honey  …. 1 teaspoon organic vanilla essence                        2 tablespoons almond meal    or 2   tablespoons of Doterra V shake or alternative, which is the almond meal!  ….  1 drop of Doterra essential oil of cinnamon bark  …. pinch of Himalayan salt …    1/4 cup extra pecans for pressing into the top.

Create it like this:   In a food processor, blend the walnut pieces with the cacao powder, add the softened coconut oil, maple syrup, vanilla, V shake and salt together.  Line a small square dish with parchment paper.  Scoop the mixture into a square dish.  Top with chopped walnuts, pushing some in as you go, and add a finishing layer.  Freeze for an hour or more.  Chop into squares and enjoy.

Doterra V – shake has a protein blend of Pea, Quinoa and Amaranth.  It’s an ideal smoothie ingredient mix and can be added to all vegan dishes with confidence. It does taste a little powdery, but I have found a way to include this marvelous ingredient into my smoothies so that the powdery taste is not so obvious.  I use blueberries and bananas frozen and make a delicious smoothie with the V-shake.  Okay any more information required on that just give me a call 0402 166 187.  Blessings Annie Clark.
